Launched my site a few weeks ago but after complaints of slow load times I took a look and was surprised to see my site fail in the image loading categories.
None of the images referred to in here are over 560KB. They were sized in Photoshop using the export to web feature at quality 70. It looks like something may be scaling them to a smaller resolution. Is that for mobile devices? How do we deal with that? Thats a severe detriment on my loading time..
Ok but if you read the details of the report, the optimization of the images accounts for 2% of the issue. Look at the screen capture and lets talk about how the HTML or CSS is scaling the picture to a smaller size. That appears to be a huge problem.
It tells you to reduce the images. You could re-size the image, like this one 1200*1500 scale to 438*548, re-size it as 876*916, remove the existed images, upload the resized images. Why not re-size to 438*548, it will blur on the retina screen.
