    Hi.

    I can’t get the featured images crop properly on the custom grid portfolio. It keeps zooming in to my images and crops it so that the whole image doesn’t show up. Have tried different image sizes, image ratios everything I can up with! Think the problem is already in the gallery post where it creates the thumbnail; it wont let me make it portrait but it always makes them squares.

    What is wrong with it? And how to get it work? Need some help asap please.

    Hi,

    The cropped ruler is for image size optimization. We’ll consider add a option to use the original image next version.

    There is quick fixing way:

    Please find /functions/interface/interface-function.php, line 586-594:

    thumbnail size in custom grid portfolio Arnold

    update as:

    if( $width > 3 && $width <= 7 ) {
    	$thumb = wp_get_attachment_image_src(get_post_thumbnail_id(), 'full');
    } elseif($width > 7 && $width < 11) {
    	$thumb = wp_get_attachment_image_src(get_post_thumbnail_id(), 'full');
    } elseif($width >= 11) {
    	$thumb = wp_get_attachment_image_src(get_post_thumbnail_id(), 'full');
    } else {
    	$thumb = wp_get_attachment_image_src(get_post_thumbnail_id(), 'full');
    }

    Thanks for your respond.

    If I change that code and upload the theme on my wp again, will I loose all my settings and content? Or is there a way to modify that file without uploading the whole theme again?

    Yes, it will be covered after theme updated.
    Please upgrade the Arnold theme, the option was added.

    Hi,

    The “Custom Grid Portfolio” is not based on image size automatic. You should adjust the grid ratio(reduce the grid height in builder) manually.

    Hi BWSM,

    First thank you for such a great design,

    I’m also struggling to get non-crop images as ‘Features Images’ on custom grid.

    I’ve tried to change the CSS in functions-interface, how can I upload it back in?

    A little bit confused here.

    Looking forward to your reply,

    Best,

    Julien

    Hi Julien, please leave the page url with custom grid. I’ll check if you change it right.

    Please let me know why you change the ratio of featured image(Why not upload a changed image? )?

    Regards!

    Hi BWSM,

    Here: https://studiojulienbarbes.com/

    It’s definitely not using my ‘Originals Images’.

    I guess if it use my originals images, I wouldn’t need a different Ratio 🙂

    Let me know what you find,

    Best,

    J

    Hi,

    I checked, It use the origin image now.
    How to say, It’s only from the maximum to avoid picture cropping. The Custom Grid template is based 12 girds width system, you drag to set each grid size what you want, then the image is fill in this grid. Each grid ratio is not possible to fit the image totally. So it will crop the image.
    There is the custom css to avoid cropping also:

    there will be inner gap in grid with css 1 – 3;
    1. fit grid width
    .grid-stack-item .ux-background-img { background-size: 100% auto; }

    2. fit grid height
    .grid-stack-item .ux-background-img { background-size: auto 100%; }

    3. show whole image
    .grid-stack-item .ux-background-img { background-size: contain; }

    4. force image fit grid, image will squeeze
    .grid-stack-item .ux-background-img { background-size: 100% 100%; }

    Each grid could set css individually like:
    .grid-stack-item .post--123 + .brick-content .ux-background-img { background-size: 100% auto; }
    123 is unique id of gallery post(each grid item), how to find it: https://www.uiueux.com/forums/topic/how-to-find-wordpress-postpage-id/
